I wore heels and dresses. I had all kinds of handbags. I visited the hairdresser every week. I really really tried. But I was so sad. I turned out to be an incredible actress, and this was the role of a lifetime. Gender was a cage made of rules and restrictions. And the moment I broke that cage – the moment I realized I was in control – gender became my strength and freedom. I wish that for everyone. To be themselves. Even if you’re not struggling with gender.
